Filter Sand

Yekta Quartz Sand is Turkey's leading filter sand producer for drinking water, wastewater and pool industries. Filter Sand is a natural sand type that was formed millions of years ago. Filter sand is processed through our state-of-the-art hydraulic grading facility for cleaning (triple-washed) and pre-sizing. It is then dried and sized according to its specifications. High-quality filter sand requires the appropriate angle, hardness, granularity and size. In Yekta Quartz Sand Filter Sand, it meets all these requirements, making our filter the perfect filter media for all applications. With the quality control tests that continue from the production process to the shipment, it ensures that it is met in any desired size with its regular and effective size properties.

Filter sands must comply with TS EN 12904 standards. When the right product is selected, the quality of the treated drinking water increases accordingly. Quartz sands used in filters have a high wear resistance. For this reason, it offers long-term solutions in filtration.

“Filter sand is produced from natural quartz sands after washing and screening processes in accordance with TS EN 12904 standards and classified in the desired dimensions. Quartz sands used as filter sands are insoluble and do not lose mass in acid tests.”

There are fast and slow sand filter systems in drinking water treatment plants. Quick sand filters generally work in the filter sand range of 0,800-1,200 mm and with a backwash system. In slow sand filters, bedding is made with 15-25 mm gravel and 5-15 mm gravel. Slow or fast sand filter selections are made according to the chemical structure and pollution rate of the water.

Using Filter Sand is a basic filtration method of water purification. The importance of filter sand is known for physical treatment (capturing the turbidity component) in fast filtration and biological treatment in slow filtration. In order to increase the filtration rate and water collection rate in recent years, the filter layer component and flow direction have been improved.
