Quartz filter sand is extracted from natural sources and refined by washing, drying and sieving. Quartz sand is almost round in grain shape and generally has a smooth surface. It is preferred for use as a substrate in dual media filters and also for single-layer filtration. Coarse quartz gravel, that is, with a grain size of 2 mm, can be used as support gravel.
Quartz Filter Sand; Since its main raw material is quartz sand and its main component is SiO2, it has hard, wear-resistant and stable chemical properties. Quartz filter sand (quartz sand) is white in color or colorless, translucent. Its hardness is 7, its oil gloss and relative density is 2.65.
Features of Quartz Filter Sand;
“Quartz filter sands are 0.4-0.8 mm and 0.7-1.2 mm in size. Quartz filter sands are obtained from specially selected quartz deposits. They are prepared with the latest washing and wet separation technology. Natural origin or further processed and of exceptional chemical purity (96-99% SiO2).”
Quartz sand filtration system uses quartz sand at a certain pressure, when the high turbidity of water passes through quartz, it is effective in retaining suspended solids, organic matter, colloidal particles, microorganisms, chlorine, odor and some heavy metal ions. In water treatment, different quartz filter sand (different diameters) is used depending on the water filtration.
